Scenarios
Scenarios are the core of ANYWAYS. A scenario is a workspace where you combine a road network with datasets to test "what if" questions.
Every project starts with two scenarios. You can add more at any time.
What's in a scenario?
Each scenario has:
- A road network — the base road network for this area. You can edit roads (close them, change speed limits, etc.) independently per scenario.
- One or more datasets — traffic demand (where trips start and end, how many, which vehicle profiles). Datasets are shared across scenarios — change a dataset once and it updates everywhere.
Typical workflow
- Scenario 0 — your baseline. Keep the network unchanged, add your traffic datasets.
- Scenario 1 — your "what if". Make road network changes (close a road, add a one-way), use the same datasets.
- Compare — use scenario comparison to see exactly how traffic shifts between the two.
