Simulate traffic
In ANYWAYS, traffic simulation is performed by assigning datasets to a network within a scenario.
A dataset defines:
- Where trips start and end
- How many trips occur
- The routing behaviour by defining routing profiles.
To simulate traffic, you create one or more datasets and add them to a scenario.
Choose the option that best matches your use case:
- Simulate existing traffic using traffic counts
This guide shows how to simulate existing traffic flows based on observed traffic counts.
Usually this is done for a typical day or AM/PM peak hour using traffic counter data or junction traffic counts
- Simulate traffic to or from a single location
This guide shows how to simulate traffic travelling towards or away from a single location, commonly used in traffic impact assessments. Imagine you want to assess the traffic impact of a new supermarket or event venue.
- Free draw dataset
This guide shows how to manually define traffic demand by specifying trips between locations and assigning routing behaviour.
